Ex-BLACK SABBATH Singer TONY MARTIN Schedules Greek Date
September 10, 2007Former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin has issued the following update:
"At last some news to talk about!!!
"There's been nothing happening this past few months, but I just confirmed a show in Greece [on November 10 at Ydrogeios in Thessaloniki]. This is significant because the very FIRST-EVER show I did with SABBATH was in Greece. We played at the football stadium in Athens and it was a major heatwave at the time. I remember we had Dave Spitz and Bev Bevan with us at the time. Scary days being the first show for me but still memorable. Now we return. I have not played or visited Greece since then in 1987 so this is the 20th anniversary of my first SABBATH visit and personal visit to that country. This anniversary also connects to my introduction to BLACK SABBATH as a vocalist. 20 years ago I was in London recording the very first track for 'Eternal Idol', 'The Shining'. We had very bad storms in England and a lot of things were destroyed. Seems that Greece is going through worrying times with the fires now. We send our best wishes to all there.
"20 years!!!!
"Question, do any of you think i should do an anniversary something to commemorate it?
"I dont know."
Martin's latest solo album, "Scream", was released in November 2005 via MTM Music. The CD features legendary drummer Cozy Powell (BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, WHITESNAKE) on "Raising Hell" as well as songwriting contributions by another SABBATH member, Geoff Nicholls.
